About Us
We Know How the Insurance Company Thinks — Because We Used to Work for Them
Florida Advocates Personal Injury Lawyers is a personal injury law firm based in Dania Beach, Florida. We serve clients throughout Broward County, Miami-Dade County, and Palm Beach County who have been injured in car accidents, motorcycle accidents, truck accidents, slip and fall accidents, and other incidents caused by someone else’s negligence.
What makes us different from other South Florida personal injury firms is not our credentials — though they are strong. It is the perspective we bring to every case. Our personal injury division is led by Susan Brown, an attorney who spent years working as a bodily injury insurance adjuster before becoming a lawyer. She has sat on the other side of a claim. She knows how adjusters evaluate injuries, how they justify low offers, and how they build arguments designed to minimize your settlement.
When Susan evaluates your case, she is thinking the same way the insurance company will — and building the evidence that defeats their strategy from day one. That is an advantage no amount of marketing can manufacture. It comes from real experience, on both sides of the table.
Our Philosophy: Your Story Matters
After an accident, most people feel like a file number. They fill out forms, wait for return calls, and receive letters from adjusters who have never heard their name before. We do things differently.
When you contact Florida Advocates, you become part of our family. You will know the people handling your case by name. The same team that hears your story on day one will be with you through your final resolution. We take the time to understand what happened to you — not just the facts of the accident, but how it has affected your work, your family, your health, and your life. That understanding is not just good client service. It is how we build stronger cases.
Understanding your story helps us tell it. And how your story is told determines what you recover.
After all, isn’t that what family would do?
Why ‘I Was Just Injured’ — What That Means to Us
The moment after an accident is one of the most disorienting experiences a person can face. You were just going about your life — driving to work, walking through a store, riding your motorcycle — and now everything has changed. Medical bills are arriving. Your car is damaged or totaled. You might be missing work. You have questions that no one is answering clearly.
That is the moment we built this firm around. Not the lawsuit. Not the settlement. The moment right after, when you are trying to understand what happened and what comes next. From your very first call, we answer your questions directly: How do I pay my medical bills? How long will this take? Can I afford an attorney? We advance all costs on your behalf so that money is never a barrier to getting the help you need. You pay nothing unless we recover for you.
Our Results Speak to Our Commitment
Only 1% of attorneys in the United States achieve results significant enough to earn membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Our lead personal injury attorney Susan Brown is a member — a recognition reserved for attorneys who have achieved million-dollar-plus verdicts and settlements for their clients. That is not just a credential. It is proof that we know how to build cases that maximize recovery.
Here are a few examples of what that commitment looks like in practice:
$2,500,000 — Motorcycle accident. Client was behind an ambulance that stopped short, causing a collision. Despite a citation at the scene, witness testimony proved the ambulance was at fault. We secured $2.5 million.
$190,000 — Motor vehicle accident. Client’s vehicle was T-boned by the at-fault driver. Insurer offered $55,000 claiming prior injuries. We proved the prior injuries were exacerbated by the crash and resolved the case for nearly four times the initial offer.
$100,000 — Premises and third-party liability. Client suffered traumatic finger amputations while assisting a FedEx employee. Not employed by FedEx. We proved vicarious liability and recovered $100,000.
Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Every case is evaluated on its individual facts and circumstances.

About Attorney Susan Brown
Susan Brown oversees Florida Advocates’ personal injury division. Before becoming an attorney, Susan handled bodily injury and workers’ compensation claims as an insurance adjuster. She was later recruited to work for the state’s largest personal injury firm — which is where she decided to pursue her own law degree. That dual perspective — knowing how claims are built and how they are defended — is the foundation of everything she brings to your case.
Susan earned her J.D. with Honors from the University of Florida College of Law (1999). She received the Book Award in Legal Drafting, served as a Teaching Assistant in Appellate Advocacy and Legal Research and Writing, and was awarded a Trial Advocacy Scholarship. She is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, has argued and won cases before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and is a member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association.
No Fee Unless We Win — And We Advance All Costs
We understand that financial concerns are often the first thing on a new client’s mind. Can I afford an attorney? What if my case takes a long time? What if we don’t win?
Florida Advocates works on a pure contingency fee basis. We charge no attorney fees unless and until we recover compensation for you. We also advance all case costs — filing fees, expert witness fees, investigation costs — on your behalf. You will never receive a bill from us while your case is active. We only get paid when you do.
